I have not been on to blog, because I went out of town earlier this week. It usually takes me a day or so to get back to normal after a trip. I am now getting to share my notes from the past Sunday.
In our Sunday school class, we are starting a study by Elizabeth George called Loving God with All Your Mind. We watch a DVD message each week and complete our workbook throughout the week. I’m very excited about this class, because I have been praying to love God like I see others love Him. The book also talks a whole lot on getting victory over depression and worry, things the author battled extensively earlier in her life. I need this study! Here are some great quotes from my workbook.
“There [Phil. 4:8], he commanded believers to think upon what is true and right instead of that which is speculative and wrong. I discovered that when I obeyed Philippians 4:8—and focused my mind on what was true and right—my negative thoughts would fade away.”

“When you pray about life’s problems, God might not answer right away, but He will answer. That’s why we’re called upon to wait upon the Lord. If we try to resolve a problem in our own power, we will surely make matters worse. The better choice is to wait for God’s perfect answer in His perfect timing.”

“On the cross, Christ paid the penalty for your sin. There is no sin past, present, or future that can condemn you. . . . You are forever forgiven, and your salvation is forever secure.”

And here are some notes I jotted down from the Sunday morning sermon.
“All God’s workers are important in God’s kingdom; they just have different roles and functions.”
“We will receive a reward for our labor—not success, but our faithfulness.”
“You are [counted] spiritual by your standing [in Christ], not by your state [being right with God].”
“Divisions [in the church] can only be caused by selfishness.”
“The cure for divisions in the church is to set your eyes back on God.”
“If you are arrested and charged as a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”
